I still want one. A cellist I used to work with when I was a recording engineer had one, subtly modified, and I want one exactly like his. Black, grey lower trim, limo tint on the windows, polished factory alloys, Euro lights and ever so slightly lowered. Subtle, but stunning in the execution. I wish I had a picture of it, but I think you can picture it from the description. The image below is similar to what I’m thinking:
If I become stupidrich somehow and have the nice house on the beach and all that I don’t want a Rolls or Bentley or anything ostentatious. I want smooth, understated and timelessly elegant, and my dream W126 as described above would fit the bill.

Lowering and stancing totally kills the value.
Non bench rear seat was ultra rare.
The W126 world has been claiming these are about to take off in value for the past decade now, but I think if anything rises in value, it will be the SEC coupes not the SE/SEL sedans.
And yeah, suspension mods make this a nonstarter for buyers with money. Might as well put it up at the corner bhph luxury lot.

Yeah I can’t find any non bench seat ones. As long as it doesnt ride harshly, Im okay wth it. But at least the suspension is reversible...
The SECs are awesome, but I would want a manual one and those are just unicorns.

Sure, the suspension is reversible, but then it should be priced as a project car, not a high-dollar turnkey BaT queen. Also, as far as the reversing mods goes, the real MB nuts will go apopleptic if you use one non-OEM bolt somewhere. With that kind of standard, it’s much easier to buy an unmolested one than try to reverse.
